Christmas Countdown: Day 20

Our calendar suggested Lincoln help wrap gifts, and he did some--mostly he is just incredibly excited to keep secrets. If you ask him what we are giving anyone, he says, "Shh! Don't tell!" Mr. Cool said he could be a secret keeper!

Points Challenge Knitting: Hermione's Cowl

As part of my challenge to replace mindless snacking with mindful knitting, I've been allowing myself a special project to knit on only when I've stuck to my daily points target.

For my first project, I created a super-long infinity scarf/lace cowl, following/adapting the pattern, A Grey Loop.  I knit it out Woolen Mills St. yarn, in the colorway Hermione Granger.  The colors are pretty accurate in the above pictures, and it is truly lovely--antique, feminine, strong.
The cowl is delicate and soft, and I will probably wear it looped twice (as above) most often.
See, when I went to make it long, I made it long.  And also, apparently, forgot I was only 5' 3".

Fantasy Campaign Ad #1

As we put up with the endless attack ads, I am going to re-run a series of fantasy ads I created during the 2008 campaign.

HE drinks the blood of unicorns . . .

HE is for domestic surveillance . . .

HE supports the enslavement of mankind . . .

HE denies elderly workers life . . .

HE wants to possess your child's mind . . .

HE is against term limits . . .

HE controls a secret group of hooded supporters . . .

CAN YOU TRUST A MAN WHO TALKS TO SNAKES?

This year, tell Voldemort that enough is enough!

I'm Cornelius Fudge, and I support this message. Paid for by the Cornelius Fudge for Minister of Magic Committee.

Ready for Hogwarts!

Mr. Cool received a special birthday gift--his very own Hogwarts scarf, in Ravenclaw-ish colors. I had to knit like the wind the week before his birthday, but I finished! He was totally surprised, as he hadn't seen me work on it in weeks.

Ready for those cool morning motorcycle rides!

A warmth close-up.

Pattern: House Scarf, Year 1-2 by Lauren Kent, in Charmed Knits
Yarn: Cascade 200 in Charcoal & Blue Velvet, 2 skeins each
Modifications: I used the large width, but the small length, and I left off the fringe, as Mr. Cool deemed it not very Mr. Cool-ish.
Mr. Cool's Reaction: "Awesome! It connects the of two houses of Hogwarts--the cunning and ambition of Slytherin and the raw intelligence of Ravenclaw."
