Cutie Pie Thursday: Uke Time!

Pre-haircut, we visited the Guitar Center.  Lincoln gravitated toward the ukelele, which is just his size.  I think he was a tiny bit frustrated that he wasn't instantly creating beautiful music.

I took both these shots with instagram--I have recently upgraded to an iPhone, and the camera and all the apps that go with it are my favorite thing.  I love putting old washes on the simplest pictures.

Cutie Pie Monday: First (Professional) Haircut

For his first professional haircut (mom and dad have both been trimming it with mild success for almost 3 years), we let Lincoln get nice and shaggy, and then we took him to a kids salon, with fire truck seats for the kids.  Here he is, before  his hair cut--seriously shaggy.

Here is the sweet set-up at the salon--fire trucks to sit in, fancy "capes," TVs on which to watch your chosen video (Lincoln picked Curious George), and a cute young thing to trim your hair.  Folks--this is the life.

When she turned to the clippers to clean up his ears and neck, we saw the first real signs of fear, but our brave little toddler made it through his first hair cut.
Here he is--freshly shorn and smiling.  He asked right away--"Can I get another haircut?"

Cutie Pie Thursday: I Had a Great Idea, or Getting Old

This is an old picture of the wee lad at Auntie Cool's birthday, partaking in his first dirt cup.  Last night, I had a really great idea for a blog post and an activity.  Lincoln will have so much fun, I thought!  He will learn!  It will be great fodder for pictures and a blog!

I can't remember it.  I can't even remember what led to the idea.  Nothing is coming to mind.  I am getting old.

Cutie Pie Thursday: The Littlest Avenger

Lincoln has been strangely fascinated by the Avengers--of course, we see Avenger stuff everywhere, even at the bookstore--so, with a few stops to try on stuff, and the purchase of an Avengers golden book, he seems to be pretty happy. Although he has asked me way too many questions about the Avengers--comic books being a n interest my nerdery never took!

Captain America!
The Hulk!
Iron Man!

Thor!
Avengers assemble!

Points Challenge Knitting: Hermione's Cowl

As part of my challenge to replace mindless snacking with mindful knitting, I've been allowing myself a special project to knit on only when I've stuck to my daily points target.

For my first project, I created a super-long infinity scarf/lace cowl, following/adapting the pattern, A Grey Loop.  I knit it out Woolen Mills St. yarn, in the colorway Hermione Granger.  The colors are pretty accurate in the above pictures, and it is truly lovely--antique, feminine, strong.
The cowl is delicate and soft, and I will probably wear it looped twice (as above) most often.
See, when I went to make it long, I made it long.  And also, apparently, forgot I was only 5' 3".

Cutie Pie Thursday: Bad Pics of Cute Boys

My ancient camera is having a hard time keeping up with my boy and his cousins, whether they're kissing, tackling, playing hide and seek, or just balancing hats on their heads.
