This year has been a busy year for my family in the baby realm. You might say, they have been breeding like bunnies. The above hat is from my favorite source of baby hats, Susan B. Anderson's Itty Bitty Hats, and I knit it in Cotton-Ease, my go-to baby yarn. I love how the ears turned out!
I started a hat for another new arrival, but I was stuck and unmotivated. Then I purchased a new (to me) magazine called Living Crafts, with a super cute pattern for a Blankie Baby Doll. The doll is basically flat, with a little bit of stuffing in the head. It is meant to be simple and cuddly, and I knit it in one day, which is always a win. The yarn, again, is Cotton-Ease, which I find to be soft, drapey, and machine washable.

12/12 in 2012: A Future Gift from a Long Past Gift
The shawl is "Yvaine," which I have knit before, in a beautiful German yarn sent to me in a swap long ago.
The colorway is called Sommerlavendd, which I have translated as Summer Lavender, and it is much prettier than my camera could capture--for instance, what looks white is really a pale blue/pale purple, while the blackish looking colors are really deep purples. This shawl is destined to be a gift, come Christmas.

12 /12 in 2012: January/February Socks
Look--that's two socks, not one! In under six months!
I love the swirly affect of the afterthought heel. My heels are a bit wonky, but my next pair will be much better.
This is a really true representation of this fabulous yarn and colorway.
So, I actually finished these about two weeks ago, so they were just a bit late, for the February sock anyway. My first afterthought heels, and a pair of socks in a bit over two months--a record for me. My 12/12 in 2012 challenge just might work! I seriously love this colorway--A Skirmish of Wit"--and enjoyed reading Much Ado About Nothing while I was finishing up the knitting.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! (I'm Just One Day Late!)
Thanks to cell phones, an iffy picture of Lincoln enjoying our green shamrock pancakes yesterday. He really enjoyed them, and knew they were shamrocks without me telling him! We also enjoyed the Veggie Tales St. Patrick's Day story (on the Sumo of the Opera DVD), and reading some Jamie O'Rourke stories by Tomie dePaola (thanks Grammie Cool!) Every year, holidays become more and more fun!

We Will Return in One Week
I left my camera at Sista Cool's house. I had it full of fun pictures of the wee Cool. I needed to take pics of my finished stripey socks and other fun stuff, including some excellent coloring by Lincoln. I am seriously missing my camera.

Three Days at Grammie's Home: Things We Loved
Lincoln making and drinking "cherry" "coffee."
Lincoln coloring with Grandad's highlighters.
Lincoln climbing up high on the stools by the kitchen to play and color while we cleaned/baked/cooked.
Playmobil knights tackling each other on a quilting mat (protecting Grammie's table from scratches.)
Hugging our beautiful Grammie and making her laugh.
Eating Grammie's heart scones and drinking tea.
Two-fisting PBJ sandwiches while making a growly ogre face.
Coloring even more with crayons together.
Yellow.
Knitting my first Jaywalker sock in a fabulous spring-y yarn on antique knitting needles (gifted to me by my Grandma, probably used by my great-grandma.)
Lincoln and I were totally blessed to stay at Grammie's home for three whole days, four nights, and a very windy time. We introduced Grammie to Cars 2, played in her school, and had an amazing time together.

Mr. Cool's Amazing Quattro Creations
Lincoln has some Lego Quattro blocks. I am not very good at creating Lego creations without a schematic drawing, but Mr. Cool is. Check out a large knight, and a small knight, above, and dragons and horses below.
I am also posting these for easy schematic access for me, as there may have been a tantrum when they broke and I struggled to recreate them.

My Hat Design is Published!
Just about exactly 7 months ago, my beautiful pregnant sister cool posed for me in a hat I had designed. That hat has now been published--you can enjoy knitting it, if that's your thing! I really enjoyed doing this, and I hope more ideas pop into my head. I knit two of these hats, and they were quite fun to make and create. I love Manos and its fair trade yarn, and was happy to create using their medium.

Cutie Pie Thursday: The Knight!
I like this shot, because Mark and his "sword" (discerning viewers will identify a light saber) are all blurry in the corner.
Why yes, that is mama's silver headband repurposed as a visor for the brave knight.
Here, he is "smoting" me. He knows the verb smote, and uses it correctly, but the conjugation is tricky for a small child.
The knight at rest, preparing for a new adventure. Mama is currently knitting him some chainmail, so I imagine the knight will return to this blog.
