Instagram Image: Lincoln with a new and prized addition to his car collection--all the way from London, England!
PicStitch & Instagram: I really enjoy picstitch for creating simple and elegant collages. This one includes a couple grandad shots--the bottom one on the left being at a 4th of July Parade!
PicStitch & Instagram: Lincoln and his beloved Cousin Cool--he always asks to hold him, and even tries to be like him (bottom left shows them both chewing on wooden spoons).
Instagram: Some people mock instagram, and possibly for good reason, but I take a lot of pictures in our brightly lit basement, and the washes in instagram allow those pictures to look arty cool--even the reflections off a plastic hulk doll. I loved this picture--and the quote from Lincoln? "Look, mom! A Hulk smashing a Hulk!"
I have been having some internet issues, but I am dedicated to this blog. I will try to get some more regular postings going!

Knitting Update: Quick Scarf & Dying Yarn
Even when it's hot, I love knitting. I am in the midst of some longer projects, and needed some quick gratification. Enter two skeins of Noro Silk Garden and a "recipe" for a pattern called the Potato Chip Scarf.
Simple short rows on a small amount of stitches yield a fun and addictive knit--I finished this one in two days, and I look forward to cooler weather to wear it in!
I also stumbled into some natural colored 100% wool yarn, and decided to try my hand at dying. With my intrepid helper, we have attempted both solar dying and immersion dying--using simple food coloring.
It is fun, and has yielded some pretty cool yarn. It's a bit more pastel than I would like, so I'm feeling tempted toward using dyes made more for wool. I have one skein left, and Lincoln is leaning toward blue. We may try handpainting it!

Cutie Pie Sunday: Yeah, it's pretty hot here, too.
One hot day, the wee lad and I got out the kiddie pool in the backyard, slathered ourselves in sunscreen, and cooled off.
It was pretty grand, even if I was doused with water on numerous occassions.
He was a little wary about it--first he said it was nice to stand in, then nice to crouch in, and finally, he was pretty happy sitting and playing.
It's pretty hot today, too. Time to get out the pool! (Moms get to dangle their toes!)
