My mom made tons of fabric crafts. She used to make them for Christmas houses--the precluders of craft fairs. She made a lot for me--as we got out our Christmas decorations, we realized that we could decorate a whole little tree just with her homemade ornaments. Here is a sampling of just the angels she had made!

Thanksgiving Wrap-Up
I am thankful for boys who want to craft turkey puppets, dads who help us make chocolate pilgrim hats, fun tables to set for friends and family, and a darling kids table.

The First Thanksgiving?
In the chapter on Florida in Tony Horwitz's excellent book A Voyage Long and Strange, I read the following:
"While reading Spanish accounts of the landing at St. Augustine in 1565, he'd been struck by the mention of a thanksgiving mass, after which Menendez 'had the Indians fed and dined himself.' In other words, fifty-six years before the Pilgrim feast at Plymouth, the Spanish performed a similar ritual in St. Augustine."
So we ate at Qdoba.

What I Did on Monday
Saw Bruce Springsteen in concert. Three hours of non-stop superb rock music. Fulfilled a lifelong dream. Chatted music and life with my beloved Cool Dad. Sneakily snuck pictures of the show. Heard two of my favorites and added some new ones. Had an amazing time!

12/12 in 2012: Let's Go Pokes!
A little late on my October shawl--I may have briefly quit really knitting on this and tried to give the game, er, shawl away. Ah, but I pulled it out in the end and now have my own fabulous hitchhiker!

Commission Mitts
People always ask me if I sell my knitting. The answer is typically no--things take me too long, the yarn costs more than people would pay, regardless of my wage, and I like making stuff for myself and my friends and family.
A few weeks ago, though, a friend asked for something that just happened to be a great pattern and yarn to knit. So, here are a pair of fingerless knits--my first bit of commissioned knitting!

Sir Lincoln, Defender of Candy
My lad wasn't wild about trick or treating himself, but he loved having kids stop by--he cried when they were done!
