The Ruffle That Finally Ended

I finally finished the last shawl of the four in Martina Behm's Hitchhiker Collection. The ruffle may have taken a very long time, but in the gorgeous Creatively Dyed yarn I bought at Estes last year, I didn't mind!

I love Martina's patterns because they are so wearable.

The first pictures are of my new Lintilla, and then I followed with shots from the whole collection: the two Hitchhikers, the Trillian, and the Magrethea. Technically, I still need a Magrethea, and if Sarah had a Lintilla and a Trillian she would have the whole set. Hmmm.

Stuck at home=beaded mitts?

Lincoln was sick and Mark was working nights, so I knit a pair of fingerless mitts in four days. I loved doing the beading--it kept me moving! The mitts are named for Lucy from the Narnia books, who was always my favorite. The colors of this deep stash yarn really felt like Narnia to be--especially when they returned to the overgrown Narnia of Prince Caspian.

12 & 12 in 2012: That's the power of blocking!

Okay, so the July shawl went into August--my excuse is that a red/white/blue shawl is perfect for the Olympics!  It could be a "USA!  USA!" shawl or a "Go GB!" shawl.  Or, maybe having lost naps and easy bedtimes, my knitting mojo is down a bit.  Anyway, this shawl perfectly shows off the power of blocking.  Above, find the shawl in its unblocked (or unwashed/pinned) glory.  Lumpy border, shorter shawl.
